The contest is being conducted jointly by RBHS Friends of the Library and the school’s English and World Language Departments. The theme for this year’s poems is “From Ordinary to Extraordinary”. On March 1st, the poems will be collected and sent to outside judges; several of them are published poets. April is National Poetry Month, and on Thursday, April 21st, the winning poems will be read by their authors at 3:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the school. Prizes of Amazon Gift Certificates–$50 for first place, $35 for second, and $25 for third –will be awarded.  Certificates of Recognition will be given to all contestants and all poems will be bound together and published.  English teacher, Ms Jeannine Ugaldi, and the RBHS Poetry Club Board–Mali Hicks, Kailey Lyche, and Ryan Connolly– will manage the contest while the RBHS Friends of the Library Poetry Committee—Shirley Black, Alexa Clausen, Lorrie Russo and Richard Mason will manage the judging and co-host the Poetry Readings.
